Fabricates, adjusts, and operates standard and special types of machine tools.
1. Sets up and operates machine tools.
2. Fits and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools or machines.
3. Applies knowledge of machining, shop mathematics, metal properties and layout and machine procedures.
4. Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, written instructions or manuals.
5. Verifies dimensions and alignment with measuring instruments.
6. Runs tests of new or repaired machines to diagnose malfunction.
7. May be required to program, set up and operate CNC machine tools.
8. May provide guidance and training to less-experienced machinists.
9. Participates in special projects as required.
1. Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
2. Technical or vocational training preferred.
Requires 3-5 years experience. Master Cam programming experience a plus.
